Tidal Organics

For this project, ROVE worked with Tidal Organics to document the full lifecycle of their rockweed harvesting process along the Nova Scotian coast. The focus was on showing how the work is done, from harvesting Rockweed by hand on the shoreline to processing it into kelp meal within hours. The film centers on restraint and intention, highlighting a harvest model that takes only what’s needed and leaves the beds intact to regenerate over time. 

From concept through final delivery, our team led full production, spending time on the water with harvesters and inside the processing facility to document each stage of the process. The approach was quiet and observational, relying on natural light, measured pacing, and real moments rather than explanation. The final piece presents Tidal Organics not as an extraction operation, but as a long-term steward of a resource, grounded in place and committed to doing the work in a way that can continue for generations.
